Benefits |
|
Productivity for scientists |
|
Feature |
Benefit |
| Auto-generated data entry
sheets |
Scientists can build their
own data entry sheets within a controlled environment. With
direct data capture there is no need to build spreadsheet
templates. Template building is often the bottle-neck in
delivering data management to preclinical researchers. |
| Adaptable protocols |
Scientists can capture new types of
information as it is discovered, reducing the need for
upfront design and adapting to the changing needs of the
experiment. |
| Leverage existing systems |
Existing tools such as MS Excel templates
can be quickly adapted for BioRails minimising the impact on
current working practices. |
| Task orientated |
Tasks can be scheduled, assigned to
people and tracked. Progression of compounds can be tracked
by requestor and 'My Tasks' means that requests do not fall
between the cracks. |
| Integrated metrics reporting |
Transparent metric (KQI and KPI)
reporting facilitates application of modern management
techniques. |
| Integrated querying and
reporting |
All data is captured and
available for the preparation of QC, study and screening
reports as well as data mining and techniques such as SAR
analysis. |
| Annotation support |
Data is annotated in the same system as
it is captured, minimising the degree of separation between
decisions and the supporting data, improving the accuracy
and timeliness of the decision making process. |
|
|
Intellectual property protection |
|
Feature |
Benefit |
| eSignatures |
Protect and exploit intellectual property.
Electronic sign-off of reports and data provide an essential
part of your 21 CFR part 11 compliance. |
| Witnessing |
Save time and effort by letting BioRails
track and record the workflow of witnessing. |
| Archival |
Create an application independent IP store
directly from witnessed and signed PDF documents created and
stored in BioRails. Keep your IP protection procedures simple
and avoid vendor dependencies. |
|
|
Manageable for IT |
|
Feature |
Benefit |
| Open source |
Maximum value - High quality
software, excellent service and support |
| Web2.0 |
Zero client footprint simplifies
deployment without sacrificing usability |
| Cross Platform |
Run from a variety of servers and clients
(Windows, Mac OSX, Unix, Linux) and against a variety of
RDBMS such as Oracle & MySQL. This means that BioRails
integrates easily with the existing infrastructure. |
| Advanced dictionary management |
The Catalogue provides a single place in
which to map multiple inventories, chemistry systems, and
data dictionaries. These can be internal and external,
enforcing consistency across systems without the need to
replicate data. The catalogue also supports aliasing
removing the problem of dictionary disputes between groups
of users, a key data management hurdle for enterprise
solutions. |
| Scalable Architecture |
Built using Oracle and Ruby on Rails,
BioRails Enterprise can be used as a standalone productivity
tool for a single scientist, support the work of a
laboratory or be deployed as an enterprise system for all
the scientists in an organisation. |
| Validation ready |
BioRails can be deployed in
validated environments promoting best-practice in research
organisations. |
| Expert support |
This out-of-the-box solution is supported
by The Edge

|
BioRails -
Personal edition is a personal productivity tool, quick and easy to install
and free to use
BioRails - Lab, Site
and Enterprise
editions are a service orientated applications that scales across multi-site
research teams and have many advanced features to facilitate integration
and collaborative working.
BioRails is accessed
through a service level agreement removing the traditional high
licensing fees associated with these types of application and focusing
on support and service. The cost of BioRails is dependant on the level
of integration and the volume of data being managed, not the number of
users. BioRails Enterprise can also be licensed using the commercial
license.
